The extensions which the city of Athens has undergone during the last decade are varied. And sometimes they have taken the form of British pre-War garden cities (at least regarding their initial design), and at others that of a simple increase in area of the urban boundaries by the continuation of municipal roads on to farm land. Re- cently, the building of a new settlement (‘colony’) for the housing of employees of the National Bank has been studied.
